December 18th could not come soon enough for some of the people of Kelly Walsh. That Friday marks the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This will be the first installment of the Star Wars saga since 2005’s Episode III. This is one of the most anticipated movies of 2015 and will be the 7th episode in the series. Fans everywhere are eagerly anticipating the long awaited release of the next chapter in the galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars is a classic series and one of the most recognizable film titles in today’s culture. People have been waiting since 2005 for the release of this film. However at that time people were uncertain that there would be a new installment since the saga had been completed after the release of Episode III. Finally with the release nigh, excitement begins to grow.

“I am so excited. It’s going to be awesome. But I want to know how the villain ties in with the story. Why is he hunting down the Jedi? That’s what I’m most excited for,” Mrs. Williams, a teacher at Kelly Walsh, said.

“Words can’t describe how excited I am,” Drew Rone, a junior said.

The new chapter will have a new director and Star Wars is now under the ownership of Disney. This has some fans worried that Disney will hamper some of the violence that comes with laser blasters and swords that have meter long blades of light for blades instead of metal. However the film is under the direction of J.J. Abrams who is not known for directing films for children. Other films under the ownership of Disney have depicted violence and still been successful, are both of The Avengers films and The Pirates of the Caribbean series. It is safe to say that Star Wars is in good hands, but some fans are still skeptical.

“I’m hoping that Disney does a good job because the prequels sucked and I just want a good Star Wars movie,” said Rone.

Soon the battle between the light side and the dark side will be back on the big screen. The two factions, Sith and Jedi, are locked in an eternal battle for the galaxy. The Jedi seek order and peace while the Sith are hungry for power and every fan prefers one to the other.

“I would say I’m more of a Jedi. Like Ben Kenobi because I’m like a mentor and I know what you’re going to do wrong before you do it. In that way I’m more like Yoda,” said Williams

The epic battle for the galaxy will soon return to the big screen, but not soon enough for some of the people of Kelly Walsh. With a revamped cast and story, fans are in for something entirely new. J.J. Abrams has taken the reigns of the series and is set to make an additional two films after this one. With big films such as Jurassic World and Avengers: Age of Ultron already released this year, Star Wars will have to aim high to put its mark on 2015. The battle between light and dark continues December 18th 2015.
