This Fall, the varsity Lady Trojans won their second consecutive team championship. The Trojans went 13-0 in head to head matches throughout the 2022 Fall Season. The team ended their season with 8 All-State players, meaning every position on the team achieved this honor. Since the beginning of 2020, the Lady Trojans have won 34 varsity matches head to head.

Senior Gabriella Blumberg won her first No.1 singles title, defeating Ashli Smedley of Cheyenne Central 6-2, 6-3. Blumberg also won the 2021 No.2 singles state title, defeating Counts of Green River. She has been undefeated since the beginning of her junior year, winning 40 consecutive matches and only dropped 1 set along the way.

Regarding her high school career, Blumberg said, “Capping off my high school tennis was such an exhilarating experience! The best part was winning state alongside my teammates made it even better. All the time and dedication from waking up at 4:00 am to training in California made it all worthwhile. I’m glad to call my teammates my friends and watch them grow to see their hard work pay off with a repeat championship.” Blumberg has received All-State honors in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

No.2 singles player, senior Avery Strand won her last high school match against Abi Neary of Campbell County 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 to place 3rd at state. Strand played No.1 doubles last year with Nokes and took the state title for the Trojans. Strand is a 3 time All-State recipient.

The No.1 doubles team of junior Ella Catchpole and sophomore Harper Klinger placed 2nd at state with a hard fought 3 set match against Rabon/Ligocki of Sheridan 3-6, 6-3, 5-7, just short of the state championship. They won the 2021 No.2 doubles state title last year and have a match record of 39-1 in the past two years.

Junior Taylor Nokes and senior Bailey Collins played No. 2 doubles and won the state championship 6-2, 6-0 against Bilyeu/Katschke of Sheridan. Both Nokes and Collins took state titles in 2021, Nokes at No.1 doubles and Collins at No.3 doubles. They were both undefeated throughout the season at No.2 doubles.

Seniors Malan Wilson and Keating Chase took the No.3 doubles state title, 6-1, 6-3 against Lawson/Quarterman of Sheridan. Wilson also won the 2021 No.3 doubles state title with Collins last year. Wilson is the only 4 time All-State player and is a 2 time state champion on the Kelly Walsh Tennis Team.
