As the seniors are entering their last quarter here at Kelly Walsh, end of the year festivities are starting to happen. One of those festivities is a game called “Senior Splashin.” The game is a friendly competition with the goal of eliminating other seniors with a water gun. This game was popularized in 2023 and has been done by past Kelly Walsh seniors.
Senior Jenna Jones is competing in this game. “I am looking forward to the strategy and excitement of it all- it’s a fun way to make memories before we graduate. I also really like how it is a way to connect with the entire senior class,” said Jones.
The game has a sense of the last one standing battle. It started with a group chat on Snapchat where one person added as many seniors as they could and then they added as many as they could. The players downloaded this app called Spalshin and had to pay five dollars for the game code.
According to the app, the rules of the game are that you get assigned one target at the beginning of the week. You have to track them down and try and spray them with a watergun when they do not have their immunity on. In this case Immunity is a pair of swim goggles worn on their eyes or a blown up floaty on their arm. If one catches their opponent without immunity and sprays them on video, they move on to the next round and their target is eliminated. If one does not reach their target by the end of the week, they are eliminated from the game.
Another senior is Caelynne Hebert, “I am looking forward to shooting my classmates with a water gun because I think it will be funny. I am feeling pretty excited to start the game,” said Hebert.
This is an interesting way to play a game with the 2025 graduating class months before walking the stage. It is an awesome way to interact with people one may not interact with on a day-to -day basis. It also is an entertaining way to finish out the year. The winner gets the cash prize of all the fives that were collected and some were even thinking of donating it to a good cause.
“Starting the game feels a little nerve-wrecking, but I am excited to be a part of something that we have been waiting for since freshman year,“ said Jones.
So if you see someone wearing floaties just know they are still in the challenge. Keep your friends close but keep your floaties closer.
