Every year, students across the country have a week off from school in the spring. Some students at Kelly Walsh take this week-long break as a chance to leave windy Wyoming and go on vacation or to go see family.
Spring break is relaxing for students as it provides a much-needed pause from the academic rigor and school year. This break allows Trojans to recharge mentally and physically whether that is out of town or staying in Casper all week. The break also offers opportunity for relaxation and socialization which helps improve students overall being and performance.
With socialization being important to high school students, some take this break a further step to go on a trip with their friends.
Junior Makieha Humphreys went on a Caribbean cruise that stopped in Grand Turk, Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas.
“I went with my whole family, Breckyn Fagot’s family, and my parent’s friends. My favorite part was snorkeling in the Bahamas,” said Humphreys.
Some students opted to stay in town for the last week of March. Staying in town instead allows students to save money, relax differently without the stress of traveling. Some students even worked over the break.
”I am going to Mexico in the summer so I chose not to go anywhere for Spring Break to save some money. I even did some door dashing to get some extra cash. I like Spring Break, I get to take it easy,” said senior Dylan Miner.
For some students, they decided to stay in Wyoming but take advantage of the scenery that Wyoming offers. Senior, Thomas Valdez said that he went to Jackson Hole, WY with his family.
“I had some good food and enjoyed the mountains,” said Valdez.
Spring Break is a significant time for students and offers a much needed escape from the daily routine of school. It gives them a chance for relaxation, adventure and self reflection. This time allows teens to recharge and prepare for the rest of the school year.
Teens can create lasting memories and strengthen friendships while exploring new places. Whether students went to the beach, the mountains or stayed in Casper they can all agree the break from school was well worth it.
Now Kelly Walsh Trojans await Graduation and summer break for their next adventures.
