As they inched towards the end of the regular season, the Kelly Walsh Football team had their eyes on the playoffs. Last Friday night, the Trojans secured their spot in the playoffs by winning against Cheyenne Central.

Brendan Hoffman, a junior, scored a touchdown late the first quarter. To follow it up, they recovered their own on side-kick to add to their momentum. Then in the second quarter, the Trojans scored nineteen points and only allowed the Central Indians to get one touch down. The Trojans kept a winning mindset through-out the entire game, ending with a score of 33-19 in favor of the Trojans. This big win gave the homecoming crowd something to cheer for.

The question that stands is: what is it going to take for the Trojans to keep their winning streak alive this week and into the playoffs?

“We will have to play physical and as a team. When we go to Laramie this Friday, we will have to go down with one mindset, if we believe we can win, we will win,” said Trey Jennings a senior on the team.

Another driving factor for the Trojans is the outcome of this Friday’s game will determine their first round playoff game. If the Trojans win, it will put them in the No. 6 seed giving them another shot at Natrona County, their cross-town rivals.

“I believe it’s all in our hearts. In the Central game we had the heart and desire to win so we could hopefully play NC in the playoffs. We will need that same heart and intensity in Laramie so we can win,” said Keegan Hornby a captain for the Trojans.

If Kelly Walsh fails to win this Friday, they will drop to a lower seed and in result they will be matched up with one of the top seeds, either the Gillette Camels or the Sheridan Broncs. At this point of the season, its all up the Trojan to come out strong and prove to the rest Wyoming that they are here to win.
