Trojans win the Casper Cup

The annual Casper Cup soccer matches took place on Thursday May 5th and just like all other rivalry matches, both games were filled with intensity and drama.   KW split the matches with NC this year. The Kelly Walsh girls lost in a close and heartbreaking match 1-0, while the Trojans edged out the Mustangs by the same score.

Interestingly, both goals were scored with headers. The Fillies’, Sarah Jones knocked a corner kick into the goal, while Trojan, Devin Palepale took a cross from Robert George and put the ball in the net.

For the seniors on the Lady Trojan squad, the loss is heartbreaking, but also motivation for them to hopefully meet up with the Fillies at regionals. It wouldn’t be the first time that the Lady Trojans lost both regular season games, and then went on to beat the Fillies at regionals. It happened last year, and the squad is hoping it will happen again this year.

The senior boys get to finish their KW soccer careers knowing they brought the Casper Cup trophy home. In doing so, they also improved their record to 8-3-0 overall and 6-2-0 in their conference.
